Learn the language already!
I'm all for immigration. I think it's a really great thing. Living in a melting pot of different cultures (Malaysia), it's great to see so many different cultures co-existing.
However (and oh is there ever a big ass however), here's the one thing that is a huge pet peeve of mine. People who post on forum's and don't bother writing in proper english. I post up at lyn, and i can't count how many times per day, some random person post with such a rudimentary grasp of common english, i make out every 4th word.
Or i'm at some neutral location, let's say a mall, and some dude come's out of nowhere and talking in their native tongue to you expecting that you understand what they're talking about. Is it just me or is that rude? It's like an unsaid shot of "We'll screw english, I'm going to talk in my normal language or the language that i understand to you whether you like it or not."
If i were to move to a new country, let's say Korea, i would know Korean from back to front and upsidedown, Hell i'd be able to teach it.
Now yes i know, some people don't have the chance to learn a language when they were young or they were brought up by parent's who don't speak english, prior to moving to a new country, though it can't be said there's no reason to start once you move there, so you have at least a minimum comprehension. The people i have to talk to during the week fail. Hard. You know whos trying whos not.
